Training Program

The training program at Trinity House-Big Bethel focuses on leadership development. Leadership training starts with self discipline. Throughout the program, staff and senior residents seek to inspire self-confidence. Residents negotiate individually defined goals as they move toward graduation:

Self discipline training begins shortly after intake. New residents are assigned basic maintenance tasks around the facility. They also prepare and serve meals as part of the weekly fish fry.

Each new resident is assigned a senior resident as a mentor to support them in their journey toward long-term sobriety. This mentoring opportunity gives residents many opportunities to practice leadership and accountability.

The Residents’ Council is the elected body of Trinity House-Big Bethel residents. Residents are elected by their peers to serve on this representative body.

Senior residents are able to test their leadership abilities by planning trips and outings. This gives them experience in logistical planning.

Graduates of the Trinity House-Big Bethel program are able to lead group discussions to consensus, plan logistics, and accept responsibility.
