Educatin Program

Trinity House-Big Bethel devotes a significant amount of time to teaching residents the essential life skills of budgeting and saving money. The three foci of money management education transform formerly homeless men into self-sufficient members of the community.

Budget worksheets

Budget worksheets are a vital tool for teaching money management. Using general guidelines for appropriate percentages of income to be allocated to rent, utilities, transportation, food, etc., staff teach residents how to complete personal budget worksheets. In addition to demonstrating the value of money, these worksheets help residents understand responsible money management and the need for budgeting once they exit Trinity House-Big Bethel.

Savings

A savings program is available to all Trinity House-Big Bethel residents. Once residents obtain employment, they are strongly encouraged to utilize this savings program as a means of developing a disciplined habit of saving. Upon leaving Trinity House-Big Bethel, many men use the savings they accrued while in the program for housing deposits.

Program fees

Once residents obtain employment, they are asked to pay modest program fees. These fees simulate rent payments and are designed to teach residents to pay the landlord first each month.
