Volunteer

There are many ways to get involved at TCM. The following are just a sample of the ways you can give back to your community or view our Volunteer Calendar for upcoming opportunities:

Trinity Table

Relationship Building Opportunities – An opportunity for Trinity Table volunteers to better engage the guests of the Trinity Table by sharing inspirational stories, information and support to the guests of the Trinity Table.

Distribution Room – Volunteers collect, organize and distribute clothes, toiletries, blankets and hygiene supplies, upon request, to the guests of Trinity Table from this designated location inside Trinity United Methodist Church.

Soup Kitchen Volunteer – Assist in serving lunch to homeless guests (Sundays 11:30 a.m. – 3:30p.m. Please call before Friday to sign up.)

Special Needs Clothing Drives – Organize seasonal, item-specific clothes drives (jeans, shoes, coats, etc.)

Clothing Ministry – Solicit, sort, and/or distribute used clothing for the homeless. (Sundays 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or scheduled Saturday morning)

Referral Desk Assistant – Assist in referring Table guests to other in-town agencies. (Sundays 12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Requires preliminary one-half day training)

Personal Care Packets – Solicit items and coordinate preparation of baggies containing toothpaste, toothbrushes, socks, soap, safety razors, etc.

Shoppers – Go to the Atlanta Community Food Bank monthly for items such as candy, crackers, etc. (No cost to volunteers)

Trinity Table Host – Assist the Soup Kitchen Coordinator during the Table’s hours of operation and, occasionally, substitute for Coordinator (Sunday 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

Trinity House-Big Bethel (TH-BB)

Mentorship Program – Connects our residents with volunteers in the community in a one-on-one relationship monitored by the counseling staff.

Literacy Program – Supports the residents with reading and writing education enrichment.

Book Club – Book Club Facilitators lead group discussions based on books for different reading levels.

Computer Skills Program – Basic computer skills, including filling out applications online, writing resumes, email and job searches.

Flowering and Edible Landscaping – Building raised gardens and providing instruction on various gardening techniques and maintenance.

Birthday Club – A Monthly event celebrating the birthdays of the residents of TH-BB.

Job Readiness – Supports the residents in job preparation and job stabilization skills.

Night-Out Program – Joins families with individuals or a small group of residents from TH-BB for a night out of wholesome entertainment: bowling, movies or just family fun.

T.E.A.M. Dinner Providers – Prepare dinner once a month for 15 men (plus yourselves) and dine with residents from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Ideal for youth groups and Sunday School classes. (Schedule in Advance)

Instructors – Teach basic computer skills, health and nutrition, breaking into industries such as health care administration, printing, etc. (Saturday afternoons)

Mentors – Offer fellowship, encouragement, and caring concern to Trinity House-Big Bethel alumni on an individual basis. Ideal opportunity for men in recovery, but other men are welcome.

Graduate Basket Donors – Solicit items (dishware, sheet sets, towels, shower curtains, etc.) for graduates starting their own homes.

Retreat Planner – Work with Program Director to make travel arrangements and reservations for annual retreat. (Spring)

Administrative Support

Support the work of TCM – by assisting with daily office support, doing research, working on newsletters and answering phones.

Hospitality – Prepare a light meal for one or more committee or board meetings.

Runner/Delivery Pickup – Procure appropriate vehicle, pickup, and deliver items donated to TCM. (Occasional)

Book Drive – Solicit books on recovery, self-help and self-reliance to help build our library.

PR and Fund Raising

General Mailing & Updates – Assist with mailing to donors and volunteers. Five (5) times a year. Please call for dates.

Media Coordination – Plan, solicit and coordinate media exposure for TCM throughout the year.

Fundraising – Identify and solicit individual, corporate or foundation prospects for funding or to provide in-kind goods or services.

Photography – Attend and photograph TCM events for newsletter, news releases, etc. (No cost to volunteer)

Special Events – Assist in conducting appropriate fundraising for TCM. Coordinate TCM participation in ongoing fundraisers such as the Hunger Walk.

Speakers Bureau – Visit churches and organizations to give brief speeches about Trinity Community Ministries; attend volunteer fairs to present materials to interested volunteers.

Appointments – Contact churches, Sunday School classes, and other organizations to set speaking engagements for Speakers Bureau volunteers.
